The beginners were busy putting the finishing touches on their form ahead of their safety test, the Bolognese group were studying lunge mechanics and the Rapier & Dagger group went through tournament judging.
… you turn up in the car park ahead of training and think you’ve either walked into a mashup of Highlander meets Fight Club… OR … Matt’s turned up with the school order of Montantes from Black Fencer.
The theme on Wednesday night at Godalming was all about movement. The beginners worked with Lizzie on the form needed for their safety test. Fran worked with the rapier group on some voiding drills. And Pim worked with the sword and buckler group on fighting at different measures.
Another busy night at Reading on Monday. Our beginners worked toward their safety test with Lorcan. Jay worked with the Bolognese group on grapples and Matt covered Alfieri’s humors with the rapier group.
This Easter, three of our instructors will be heading up to York to instruct at the 2016 Spring Exchange.
Jay Maxwell will be looking at single and dual Sword use in the Florentine System in “A Case of Sideswords”. Matt Crane will be doing a session on Fabris Rapier & Cloak entitled “Always know where your towel is!” And Lizzie Wilson will be doing an Introduction to Bolognese Sword and Buckler.
