Another busy night at our Godalming chapter with multiple streams for students to choose between. In tonight’s smallsword group we revised last week’s work on feints – while standing in guard, when thrusting, with an appel, or with a beat. We then workshopped on Angelo’s descriptions of Demi Volte and Volte and applied them in practice. We ended the session with a bout of Freeplay.
Meanwhile in the sword and buckler group, Mark took the group through Manciolino’s 3rd & 4th True vs True stretta plays – using your own hilt to control your opponent’s sword in various ways.
We then did some timed freeplay to allow us to start analysing our opponent’s to try to find an advantage.
