At our Reading Chapter tonight, another three of our latest candidati intake passed their safety test and rose to the rank of Studenti. Congratulations, James, Mike and Tom.  As full members, they are now able to attend sparring and train with the rest of the school.

This January, our Reading Chapter welcomed their latest batch of candidati.  Tonight, the first two passed Safety Test.  Congratulations, Dylan and Ario!

Another busy night at our Reading Chapter tonight with multiple streams of training.  Josh continued his look at single rapier while Simon continued his lessons in Sword & Dagger, and our Candidati continued to prepare for their upcoming Safety Tests.

Freeplay Day – 4th February 2024

Brilliant turnout from Reading and Godalming chapters at our Hawley freeplay today. These sessions provide our students with a chance to fight with new sparring partners, try out weapons not currently on the curriculum and get in some much needed practise.

Medal Haul At Wessex League Swindon

All four chapters came together this weekend, as the final leg of the Wessex League Tournament came to Swindon,  Students from our Godalming, Reading and Oxford chapters competed whilst our Swindon students got their first taste of tournaments from the sidelines, cheering everyone on.

School of the Sword came away with a number of medals despite some highly skilled competition.

Emilia Skirmuntt took gold in Women’s Rapier & Dagger, silver in Women’s longsword, as well as two golds in the overall league – Women’s longsword league and Women’s Multiple Weapon league

Magnus Kraken took silver in the Beginner’s Rapier & Dagger, with Lenny Sim taking Bronze

Kristian Barlow took bronze in Sword & Buckler.

Congratulations to Nigel Salt who narrowly missed out on a medal, gaining 4th place in Beginner’s Longsword.

Great fencing by all fencers, whether they won medals or not.  They should all be proud, as we look to 2024 and our preparations

Reading Training – 20th November 2023

The cloaks (or beach towels) were out in force again tonight in Reading as our students continued their study block looking at the cloak as an off-hand weapon.  Lots of dapper fun had by all students.

It was a new lesson block tonight in Reading as our students got introduced the the joys of using the cloak as an off-hand.  Armed with cloaks (or towels in their absence) Reading students were taken through the basics by Matt.
