Oxford Sparring – 14th July 2024

2024-07-21T23:59:38+00:00July 14th, 2024|Longsword, Oxford|

Sunday saw our Oxford students gather for a bit out outdoor freeplay. These sessions are always helpful. There’s only so much time during a lesson to learn a new technique and often the best way to practise it is to incorporate it into sparring.

Swindon Training – 10th July 2024

2024-07-21T21:48:19+00:00July 10th, 2024|Sidesword, Swindon|

It was our regular training session tonight, and due to the football numbers were low, so in place of our scheduled two sword work, we instead used this session to review student’s progress and give them an individual action plan and some coaching based on their individual strengths and weaknesses.

Before the start of new training block next week, our Reading students gathered for our regular weekly training session to enjoy some freeplay. These sparring sessions give students the chance to play with a range of weapons including those they might not currently be training, as well as practise techniques learned in class under sparring conditions.

Swindon Training – 3rd July 2024

2024-07-21T21:43:40+00:00July 3rd, 2024|Sidesword, Swindon|

It was our regular Swindon training session tonight, and we continued our work looking at Docciolini’s two swords. We started with a warm up, trying to do the pretzel and figure of eight with two swords, before continuing our work with Dociolini. Because of the complexity, this week we looked to perfect the base drill as a two tempo move. Some great level of concentration, and some good level up.

2024-07-21T22:30:53+00:00July 3rd, 2024|Dagger, Godalming, Rapier, Sword & Buckler|

As is customary for our Godalming students, when a training block ends, there is typically a freeplay session for one week before the next blocks begin.  Tonight was no exceptions with students sparring agaisnt each other with a multitude of weapons.  There was also a Bring & Buy table, and sword maintenance table.
