Students from our Oxford chapter met up this weekend for some extra sparring. Sparring sessions give students the chance to practise techniques they have learnt in class and work on incorporating them into their personal arsenal of moves, tricks and tactics.
With tournament season in full swing, our Reading students continued their mini tournament prep and judging training. This included ways of changing your fight, judging and then closing with a friendly tournament.
Our Godalming students met up this weekend for the latest in the chapter’s regular sparring sessions. Sparring gives them a chance to exchange with students they might not have sparred with before, practise weapons that might not currently be in the training curriculum, as well as get some much needed time to incorporate new techniques and tactics into their swordplay.
It was our Godalming Chapter’s regular training night tonight and ahead of the new intake next week, students got to enjoy an evening of freeplay. These sessions give students the opportunity to get some sparring practise in against a range of students with a range of weapons, incorporating the various techniques learnt at training.

As is customary for our Godalming students, when a training block ends, there is typically a freeplay session for one week before the next blocks begin. Tonight was no exceptions with students sparring agaisnt each other with a multitude of weapons. There was also a Bring & Buy table, and sword maintenance table.
