Tonight was the last night of our block on Dalla’gocchie’s Single Sidesword. We finished off by looking at more defenses and responses. Our students have come a long way in the last 6 months, having never studied single sidesword before to now having a good grasp of the concepts. Excellent work by all students
Tonight saw our regular Wednesday night training session in Godalming with two streams of learning on offer. Fran continued her rapier and dagger refresh / intro lessons, while Mark continued his lessons on sword and buckler.
Another busy night in Reading with two streams of learning available for our students to choose from. Matt continued his work looking at Fire’s poleaxe, whilst Chris took the Sword & Buckler stream
Sunday saw our Oxford students gather for a bit out outdoor freeplay. These sessions are always helpful. There’s only so much time during a lesson to learn a new technique and often the best way to practise it is to incorporate it into sparring.
Students from our Godalming chapter as well as some from other chapters gathered for an afternoon of cutting things with swords. Whilst we don’t use sharps in our training for obvious safety reasons, it’s a useful part of our training to get the experience of cutting at inanimate objects to see just how good our blade alignment really is. And so sideswords, sickles, spears and more were set to task against objects such as milk bottles, fruit, clay and even a birthday cake. A lot of fun was had by all.
Tonight saw our regular Wednesday night training session at our Swindon Chapter. Students gathered to continue their work learning Dalla’gocchie’s single sidesword. Tonight we looked at Falso Manco as a defence and a response. A good level of analysis all round.
Godalming students had a choice between two different streams at our weekly training session tonight. Fran continued her rapier and dagger refresh / intro lessons, while Mark continued his lessons on sword and buckler.
It was our regular weekly training session in Reading tonight, and the start of new training block. Chris lead one stream relating to sword & buckler, while Matt taught Fiore’s poleaxe
Our Oxford students met up again today for their regular Sunday sparring session. These sessions give students the chance to play with a range of weapons including those they might not currently be training, as well as practise techniques learned in class under sparring conditions.
