Reading Training – 11th July 2016

It was our regular Reading training session on Monday night, with students ignoring the humidity and working hard in all three streams.

Matt worked on tournament practise with the rapier and dagger group, whilst Adrian continued his lessons on use of the buckler and Fran and Simon guided beginners towards their safety test.

Sunday Sparring – 10th July 2016

With the Astolat tournament just a week away and many of our students competing, our weekly sparring saw attendance from members from both Godalming and Reading.  It gave them a good chance to put in some extra practise as well as try out a few strategies and techniques.

Godalming Training – 6th July 2016

It was another busy night in Godalming last Wednesday with our usual three streams of training.

Fran took the sidesword group, whilst Pim went through some tournament tactics for rapier and dagger.  Meanwhile, Lizzie worked with the beginners progressing them towards their safety test.

Monday night saw our regular training session in Reading with the start of new teaching blocks.

Matt worked with beginners progressing towards their safety test, Adrian started his teaching block on the use of the buckler and Stewart started a new set of lessons on Giganti’s rapier.

Saturday Sparring – 2nd July 2016

Sparring this weekend saw it take place on Saturday in Reading for a change.  There was a good turnout and a number of different weapon combinations, including seated dussack to allow those with minor injuries to still participate.

Godalming Training – 29th June 2016

A busy night at Godalming on Wednesday with a large turnout, including several of our Reading students.

Lizzie took the beginners through the basics of swordplay whilst Pim went through tactics in Rapier & Dagger.  Fran, meanwhile, took the Bolognese group through looking at Manciolino single sidesword plays.

Reading Training – 27th June 2016

It was the end of our latest round of lesson blocks on Monday.  Stewart finished his lessons on introduction to Giganti Rapier; Lorcan, likewise, with his block on Bolognese Sidesword and Buckler.  Next week our students will have two new training streams to choose from.

For those students who’ve yet to pass their safety test, Fran worked on the finessing the form.

With a number of tournaments looming some of our students took advantage of Sunday morning to get a bit of extra sparring in.

After a hot, sweaty session we rewarded our hard work with a trip to the pub.

It was a fun night at our training session in Godalming on Wednesday night.  There was a mix of sparring games and freeplay, with our new beginners also working on the form needed as part of their Safety Test

Reading Training – 20th June 2016

Despite a number of people off with illness, muscular injuries or delayed at work, we had a good turnout on Monday and a very active session.

Matt took Giganti rapier for beginners, Lorcan continued to take the bolognese stream through counter attacks from Manciolino, and Adrian worked with the beginners working toward their safety test.  As always we ended the session with a circle debrief.
